Metaphoric Perceptions of Teacher Candidates’ on Artworks

Öğretmen Adaylarının Sanat Eserlerine Yönelik Metaforik Algıları
Bu araştırmanın amacı, öğretmen adaylarının resim alanında üretilmiş sanat eserlerine ilişkin kullandıkları metaforları belirleyerek, Resim-İş öğretmenliği programında öğrenim gören öğretmen adayları ile diğer alanlarda öğrenim gören adayların metaforik algılarını incelemektir. Araştırma Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Türkçe Öğretmenliği, Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği, İlköğretim Matematik Öğretmenliği, İngilizce Öğretmenliği, Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği, Psikolojik Danışmanlık ve Rehberlik, Müzik Öğretmenliği, Zihin Engelliler Öğretmenliği, Sınıf Öğretmenliği, Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği, Bilgisayar ve Öğretim Teknolojileri Öğretmenliği ve Resim-İş Öğretmenliği programlarında öğrenim gören 159 öğretmen adayı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada adayların sanat eserlerine ilişkin kullandıkları metaforları ortaya çıkarmak için Van Gogh, Kandinsky, Klimt ve Picasso’nun eserlerine yönelik açık uçlu bir görüşme formu hazırlanmıştır. Görüşme formunda öğretmen adaylarından gösterilen dört sanat eseri için “Bu resim …. gibidir, çünkü ….” cümlesini tamamlamaları istenmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının sanat eserlerine ilişkin düşünceleri içerik analizi tekniği ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda Resim-İş öğretmen adaylarının toplamda 141, diğer öğretmen adaylarının 345 geçerli metafor ürettikleri görülmüş; öğretmen adaylarının Kandinsky’nin eserine yönelik algılarının olumsuz ve soyutlayıcı düzeyde, Picasso’nun eserine yönelik algılarının içsel düzeyde, Van Gogh ve Klimt’in eserlerine yönelik algılarının ise olumlu düzeyde olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır

Abstract
The aim of this research is to determine the metaphors used by the teacher candidates on artworks produced in the field of painting and to examine the metaphorical perceptions of the teacher candidates who are studying in the Art-Teacher Training Program and the candidates who are studying in other fields. This research was conducted with 159 teacher candidates studying in Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Education Turkish Language Education, Science Teacher Education, Elementary Mathematics Education, English Education, Pre-school Education, Psychological Counseling and Guidance, Music Education, Mental Disability Education, Class Education, Social Studies Education, Computer and Instructional Technology Education and Art Education. In the research, in order to reveal the metaphors that the candidates used related to the artworks, an open-ended interview form was prepared for pieces from Van Gogh, Kandinsky, Klimt and Picasso. In the interview form, teacher candidates were required to complete the sentence that "This painting is like… ;because ... " for four art pieces shown. Teacher candidates’ views regarding artworks has been analyzed with content analysis technique. At the end of the research, it was seen that art teacher candidates created 141 and the other teacher candidates created 345 valid metaphors in total; teacher candidates' perceptions of Kandinsky's piece are negative and abstract, perception of Picasso's piece is iner, perception of Van Gogh and Klimt’s pieces is positive.
