Author Guidelines
Manuscripts are submitted without the journal template. The template is sent to the author after the article has been accepted.
Publication principles
Manuscripts submitted to idil must be original: not published elsewhere, not accepted for publication elsewhere and not under review by another journal. Unpublished conference papers and studies based on postgraduate theses are also considered; this is stated in the article.
The journal publishes research articles and review articles, as well as book reviews, interviews and translations. Its languages are Turkish, English and Russian; every article has a title, an abstract and keywords in Turkish and in English.
Review process
- Initial screening. The editors check that the submission fits the journal’s scope, its author guidelines and its ethical standards; the submission is screened for similarity with iThenticate. A submission that does not meet these is declined at this stage, with the reasons.
- Peer review. Research articles and review articles are reviewed double-blind by two experts in the field: reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, nor authors that of the reviewers. Reviewers respond to the invitation within 15 days and send their reports within 60 days.
- Decision. On the basis of the reports, the Editorial Board accepts the article, asks for revisions or declines it, and informs the author of the decision with its reasons. A revised manuscript is uploaded within one month.
- Production. The accepted article is set in the journal template and typeset, and the proofs are sent to the author.
Book reviews, interviews, translations and editorials are not sent to reviewers; they are assessed by the Editorial Board. The issue in which an article will appear is not fixed in advance; it depends on the review and revision stages. For appeals, see Research and Publication Ethics.
Preparing the manuscript
- File: Word format, Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing. The file sent for review must not contain the names or affiliations of the authors or anything else that identifies them; remove the author’s name from the file properties as well. Author details are entered in the submission system.
- Title: no more than 12 words, in title case (major words capitalized; short articles, conjunctions and prepositions in lower case). A title is given in Turkish and in English.
- Abstract: in Turkish and in English, about 200 words, with no references, figures or tables.
- Keywords: 3–10 keywords, in Turkish and in English.
- Author details: the name, affiliation, country, email address and ORCID iD of each author are entered in the system.
- Figures and tables: numbered in order, with a caption and source. Authors obtain permission to publish images whose copyright belongs to others.
- Footnotes: for explanatory remarks only; references are given in the text.

In-text citations and the reference list follow APA 7 (apastyle.apa.org). Give the DOI of every source that has one. Sources in other languages keep their original title, followed by an English translation in square brackets.
