Russian Diplomatic Documents as an Informational Source About Ottomans
Abstract
The article explores the process of starting and developing regular diplomatic relations between the Ottoman and Russian empires by the example of the notes of Count P. A. Tolstoy – the first Russian ambassador in Turkey. Showing sources of knowledge about Turkey and Turkish society in Russia, provides a brief list of the main diplomatic sources on Russian-Turkish relations in the Foreign Policy Archive of the Russian Empire.
