Türk Mitolojisinde Hayvan Sembolizmi ve Geleneksel “Şahmeran” Figürünün Sanata Yansımaları

Dilimize “söylence” olarak geçen mitoloji kavramı medeniyetlerin kültür uzantısı olarak kabul görmekte ve ait olduğu toplumun yaşadığı olayları, hayalleri ve efsaneleri sembolleştirerek günümüze aktarmaktadır. Mitolojide yer alan efsaneler toplumun dünyayı anlamlandırma çabasını ve bakış açısını bizlere sunmaktadır. Birçok coğrafyada varlığını göstermiş olan Türk milleti de oldukça zengin bir mitolojik geçmişe sahiptir. Türkler var oldukları andan itibaren kendi inanışları ve kültürleri doğrultusunda birçok mit oluşturmuş ve bu mitsel ritüelleri sanat eserleri aracılığıyla nesilden nesile aktarmışlardır. Dünya mitolojilerinde sıklıkla kullanılan ve birçok kültürde kutsal kabul edilen yılan figürü, olumlu ve olumsuz birçok özelliği ile görsel sanatlarda da kendine yer edinmiştir. Türk mitolojisinde çoğunlukla yarı insan yarı hayvan olarak betimlenen Şahmeran efsanesi de hem çağdaş sanatlarda hem geleneksel sanatlarda kendine sıklıkla yer bulmuştur. Bu çalışmada; şahmeran söylencesinin sanata yansımaları örnekler üzerinden incelenecektir.

Abstract

The concept of mythology, which is referred to as "myth" in our language, is accepted as a cultural extension of civilizations and conveys the events, dreams and legends of the society to which it belongs to the present day by symbolizing it. Legends in mythology present the society's effort and perspective to make sense of the world. The Turkish nation, which has shown its existence in many geographies, also has a very rich mythological past. From the moment of their existence, Turks have created many myths in line with their own beliefs and cultures, and these mythical rituals have been transferred from generation to generation through works of art. The snake figure, which is frequently used in world mythologies and considered sacred in many cultures, has also taken its place in visual arts with its many positive and negative features. The legend of Şahmeran, which is mostly depicted as half-human, half-animal in Turkish mythology, has also frequently found its place in both contemporary and traditional art works. In this study; The reflections of the şahmeran myth on art will be examined through examples.
