Abstract
This research has been done to determine whether there is a significant difference between the self-confidence levels of students playing and not playing musical instruments. The research is carried out with undergraduate second, undergraduate third and undergraduate fourth students studying at Dokuz Eylül University Buca Faculty of Education, Department of Music Education and Guidance and Psychological Counseling Education (PDR). A total of 155 students, 107 females and 48 males participated in the study. The research is in the screening model and the data of the research was obtained by using the 5-point Likert type “Self Confidence Evaluation Form” (Özevin, 2008). In the analysis of the data, t test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) statistical methods are used for independent groups through the Spss 16.0 program. Within the framework of the findings, no significant difference is found between the two groups in terms of gender and class variable, and there is a significant difference between the students of the Department of Music Education and Guidance and Psychological Counseling Education Department students in terms of department variable. According to this difference, it is concluded that the self-confidence levels of the students of Music Education Department are higher than the self-confidence levels of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Education students.
