İlkokul İngilizce Öğretiminde Görsel Sanatların Kullanımına Yönelik Araştırmalara Genel Bir Bakış

Öz

Görsel sanatların eğitsel içeriklerde kullanılması yeni bir uygulama olmamakla birlikte öğrenme ve öğretme süreçlerine birçok katkı sağlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda bu çalışma kapsamında ilkokul seviyesinde İngilizcenin öğretiminde görsel sanatların kullanımına yönelik çalışmalar derlenmiştir. Çalışmada görsel sanatların İngilizce öğretiminde kullanılmasının gözlemlenen/tespit edilen olumlu etkileri sunulmuştur. Ayrıca öğretim sürecinde tespit edilen sınırlılıklar ve araştırma boşlukları belirtilerek bu alanda çalışmak isteyen araştırmacı ve sanat eğitimcilerine katkı sağlanması hedeflenmiştir.

Abstract

An Overview of Studies on the Use of Visual Arts in Primary School English Teaching

The use of visual arts in educational content, while not a new practice, contributes significantly to the learning and teaching processes. In this context, the aim of this study is to conduct a literature review on the use of visual arts in the teaching of English at the primary school level. In order to achieve this goal, the study first discusses primary school English education in Turkey. Then, it summarizes the contributions of visual arts to English teaching by examining illustrations and other visual arts found in English teaching materials. As a result, the study presents the observed/identified positive effects of using visual arts in English teaching. It also outlines the limitations and research gaps identified in the teaching process, with the aim of contributing to researchers and art educators interested in working in this area.
