Abstract
Re - Evaluating the Conception of Object Within the Context of Minimalism Wave
Minimalism, as a reaction against the excessive importance the abstract expressionism attributed to the form and emotion, defended simplicity by avoiding luxuriant decorative elements, pointed out that an object is just an object and thus used repetitions of geometrical elements, and developed an elite aesthetic concept. It rejected figurative imagery in the compositions, and took minimizing the form and the color within the art pieces as principle, and tried to cleanse the piece from any kind of objective connotation.
This wave, influencing lots of arts such as the painting, sculpture, cinema, music and architecture, defended that the art pieces should be entirely objective and inexpressive, the design should be on the spotlight, the color and the form should be minimised, and drew attention with its compositions that were formed by using compatible colors, forms and sharp geometrical elements with an aesthetic attitude. This wave also lead the creation of many fields of arts such as process art, land art, performance art and installation. The most influential artist of this wave are Carl Andre, Sol LeWitt, Robert Morris, Richard Serra, Donald Judd, Dan Flavin.
