Abstract
CODING METHOD IN EXPERIMENTAL TYPOGRAPHY STUDIES AND AN APPLICATION
In the 21st century, the use of computer technologies in typographic designs has been adopted in parallel with graphic design, and the studies produced in this way have replaced the studies created with traditional methods. Graphical user interfaces and software that can imitate human hand drawings and movements have worked together to facilitate designers to design faster. But at the same time, all these technologies limit the designers and prevent their designs from being experimental by minimizing the random phenomenon. At this point, software that makes it possible to design with coding offers a new perspective for designers. In the study, the environments that make it possible to design with the direct coding method are examined and examples of the works that have been done are presented. In the application part, the design process of the experimental typography work produced using the Nodebox3 program is explained, and a sample working method is explained within the framework of coding and experimentation. The article aims to provide information on how graphic designers can benefit from the coding method to create experimental typographic works and to share an example application process.\nKeywords: Experimental typography, coding, Nodebox3, generative design, randomness\n
