Sanatsal İfade Aracı Olarak Cam ve Seramiğin Birlikte Kullanımı

Birbiri ile yapısal olarak ortak özellikler gösteren seramik ve cam, uygulama ve teknik açıdan oldukça farklıdır. Bu iki farklı malzeme, modern ve çağdaş sanat eserlerinde birçok sanatçı tarafından biçimsel ve kavramsal anlamda birlikte kullanılmaktadır. Bazı sanatçılar malzemeleri opak ve şeffaf yönleri ile zıtlık anlamında birlikte kullanmayı tercih ederken, bazı sanatçılar ise seramiğin doğal ya da yapay dokusunu ve cama oranla daha rahat şekillendirilmesini tasarlanan formun uygulama aşamasında kullanıp, camın sıcaklık ile erime hareketini formu tamamlayan bir parça olarak desteklemeyi tercih etmektedirler. Farklı iki malzemenin aynı bünyede birleştirilmesi için kullanılan farklı yöntemler olduğu gibi ayrı ayrı şekillendirildikten sonra bir arada bütünleştirme ya da birleştirme yöntemleri de mevcuttur. Teknolojik gelişmelerin ardından sanatçı ve tasarımcılara destek olmak ve öneride bulunmak adına farklı yöntem ve projeler geliştirilmiştir. Bu yeni yöntemlerden farklı olarak sanatçılar tarafından en çok tercih edilen birleştirme ve bütünleştirme yöntemleri, soğuk yapıştırma, plaka camlar arasında şekillendirme, seramik yüzeylerde cam eritme olarak çeşitlendirilebilir. Dünyanın pek çok ülkesinde sanatçılar seramik ve camı biçimsel ve kavramsal açıdan birlikte kullanarak eserlerine farklı bir boyut kazandırmışlardır. Geri dönüştürülebilen bu malzemeler uygulama yöntemleri ile çağdaş sanat dünyasına ışık tutarak, yeni ifade biçimlerinin önünü açıp farklı malzeme önerisinde bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada cam malzeme ile çalışmış, deneyimlemiş sanatçılar değil, iki malzemeyi (cam ve seramik) birlikte kullanan sanatçılardan bahsedilecektir. Sanatçı eserlerinden verilen çeşitli örneklerle birleştirme yöntemleri ve sanatsal ifade açısından birlikte kullanımına değinilerek genç sanatçılara yeni ufuklar açması hedeflenmektedir.

Ceramic and glass, which exhibit structurally common properties, are quite different in application and technique. These two different materials are used together by many artists in modern and contemporary works of art both formally and conceptually. While some artists prefer to use materials together in opaque and transparent aspects in contrast, some artists prefer to use the natural or artificial texture of ceramic in the application phase of the designed form and support the melting movement of glass as a part that completes the form. There are different methods for joining two different materials in the same structure, as well as methods of integrating or joining together after they are individually shaped. Following technological advances, it has been developed in different methods and projects in order to support and suggest artists and designers. Unlike these new methods, the most preferred methods of joining and integrating by artists can be varied as cold bonding, forming between plate glass, melting glass on ceramic surfaces. In many countries of the world, artists have added a different dimension to their works by using ceramic and glass together formally and conceptually. These recyclable materials shed light on the contemporary art world with their application methods, paving the way for new forms of expression and suggesting different materials. In this study, not only artists who have worked and experienced with glass materials but also those who use two materials (glass and ceramic) together will be mentioned. It is aimed to open new horizons for young artists by mentioning the combination of various examples from artist works and their use in terms of artistic expression.
