1614242845 STRUCTURAL, TECHNICAL, MUSICAL ANALYSIS AND PROPOSED PRACTISE TECHNIQUES OF FLUTE SOLOS IN PROKOFIEV’S FIRST SYMPHONY

In the music of the 20th century, composers transferred folk music in their own style, classical harmony patterns emerged, the tonal understanding was left behind, the usual patterns were created and the 12-tone system emerged. Sergei Prokofiev is one of the early composers who reflected these innovations that emerged in the 20th century to his music with modern approaches. Classical Symphony, which is the first of the seven symphonies he composed, is one of the first symphonies to contain today’s rhythmic and harmonic patterns, unconventional syncope and disonances. In this qualitative study, the information obtained from the literature was interpreted descriptively, and the sheet of the work was subjected to document analysis. Information about the characteristics of 20th century music, the musical character of the composer, and the composition of the work, which is the period in which the piece was composed, were compiled from the available literature. Then, musical analyzes were made on the selected edition of the work. Finally, the flute solos in the work have been examined in structural, technical and musical terms and playing suggestions are presented.
