1606123259 WOMEN'S MISSION AND REPRESENTATION IN ART IN THE MASCULINE WORLD

The established understanding of the position of women and women in the social structure has been built on biological differences. Throughout the centuries, when femininity was natural, divine, biological in origin, and no status other than motherhood and accompaniment accepted, women accepted that men should be strong and have a say. While the religious and family responsibilities imposed on the woman gave her a kind of dignity, it doomed the woman to stay at home. Unconditional loyalty, service and fertility were expected from the woman who could not resist the rising male power. The ruling power, which held power in different centuries, used art as a tool, and adopted these roles determined by the male-dominated world. The art forms and works discussed in this research were selected from different periods and cultures. The purpose of this research is to present these missions that the masculine world imposes on women through works of art.
