When we look at the progress and development of art in Turkey, it can be seen that it gains momentum quite great along with the Republican period, and in the early years of the Republic, it's noticable that the artists who completed their education of modern arts in Europe, changed and improved it by the modern art knowledge and pratics which they brought to the country.. Modern styles pioneered in Turkey by Turkish artists through their experiences in Europe; it has been blended with elements of Turkish folklore and interpreted with new forms of expression that form the foundations of the modern style of Turkish painting. The aim of this study which was prepared by using scanning model; is to examine the artistic development of Maide Arel, the artist who has made great contributions to the formation process of contemporary Turkish Art which is developing with new forms of interpretation, and to interpret her works in the direction of stylistic features.. The artist, who lived between 1907 and 1997, is mostly known by his dependence on the figure and his style which modernizes the traditional. She attended the Academy of Fine Arts where she graduated in 1930 and took painting lessons from Nazmi Ziya Güran, Hikmet Onat and Mehmet Ruhi Arel. He developed himself in the workshops of Andre Lhote, Fernand Leger and Jean Metzinger when he went to Paris with her husband Şemsi Arel. Arel's works also contain influences from the styles of his teachers, and she attracts attantion with the original interpretations that reflect figurative elements which are patterned and abstracted within the geometrical space fictions Although the date of of some of the works reflecting the style of Maide Arel, who has taken an active role in the art world since the 1930s, is not reached, the contour lines surrounding the surface- influenced paintings and forms, which she has expertly personalized Anatolian culture, make a difference compared to his contemporaries with the descriptive features she created in her works.
