There are different narratives about snakes in the Bible. The snake has been directly associated with evil, primarily as the devil himself or as an entity that helps the devil. However, it has also had a positive feature by being among the miracles of some prophets. One of these is the miracle of the staff that turned into a snake that the prophets Moses and Aaron performed before the Pharaoh. This story in the Exodus section of the Old Testament has been depicted quite a lot in European painting. However, it is seen that the story in question is depicted more and generally in a way that is appropriate to the text, especially in the Bible, Agade or chronicles written in the Middle Ages. This study focuses on the paintings related to the subject that we encounter in the European painting of the Middle Ages. Within the scope of the study, the manuscripts in which the scenes are found, the ways they are depicted and the reasons for their production are analyzed.
