Denim fabric, known for its durability and versatility, has become one of the most popular materials in the textile industry. However, the environmental impact of its production processes, characterized by high water consumption and the use of chemicals, has created a need to reevaluate denim fabric within the context of sustainable design and artistic practices. This article explores the aesthetic and environmental contributions of denim through creative transformation processes in sustainable art and design. It examines the innovative and sustainable approaches to denim taken by international artists such as Ian Berry and Faustine Steinmetz, alongside Turkish artists like Deniz Sağdıç and Hande Bilvar. The study focuses on their projects, which not only raise environmental awareness but also create cultural and artistic value. The role of innovative works with denim in delivering aesthetic and societal messages, as well as their contributions to environmental consciousness and cultural impact, is analyzed. The article highlights the artistic and functional dimensions of denim fabric, emphasizing its reuse as an aesthetic medium. In conclusion, it underscores the potential of denim fabric, as a transformable material, to contribute to creating a sustainable future in contemporary art and design. This study aims to contribute to the growing body of research on sustainable design and art practices.
