1735809094 ALEXANDER MCQUEEN (1969–2010): AN ANALYSIS OF THE 'NO.13' RUNWAY SHOW AS AN ECLECTIC REFLECTION OF FASHION, ART, AND ECHNOLOGY

This study examines Alexander McQueen's unique approach to blending artistry, technological innovation, and craftsmanship in fashion design. Despite his brief career, McQueen established a distinctive position in the fashion world by pushing boundaries and redefining fashion as an art form through groundbreaking runway shows. The study presents a tabular overview of the process spanning from McQueen’s first runway show, Jack the Ripper Stalks His Victims, to his final collection, Angels and Demons. It evaluates the mythological and eclectic nature of his designs within a chronological framework. The research focuses particularly on one of McQueen's most striking runway shows, the "No. 13" collection. This show, featuring robotic arms as artistic narrative tools on stage, demonstrated the creative fusion of fashion and technology. McQueen's designs in the "No. 13" collection are analyzed in the context of their eclectic structure, artistic connotations, and the technological innovations brought to haute couture. The study further examines the roles of craftsmanship, technology, and theatrical storytelling in fashion design. A qualitative research methodology was adopted, involving comprehensive literature reviews, analyses of runway show videos, and detailed examinations of visual materials. The contributions of McQueen's designs to the aesthetic, functional, and artistic dimensions of fashion were thoroughly investigated. This study aims to illuminate the artistic and technological transformations McQueen introduced to fashion design and to evaluate his lasting impact on fashion history.
