Throughout history, art has served as a means for individuals to express themselves and make sense of the world. With the advancement of technology, the tendency of art to move towards digitalization has brought a new perspective to people’s passion for art. In this context, we observe the evolution of digital art from prehistory to the present, focusing on its experimental aspects and the emergence of new disciplines driven by technological possibilities. As technology progresses, artists who produce works that contribute to this development continue to secure their place on artistic platforms by incorporating new perspectives, disciplines, and techniques over time. This research aims to understand how pioneering figures in digital art around the world merge their artistic visions with technology to create innovative works. The study employs document analysis, observation, and qualitative data collection techniques. The works produced by the artists examined are categorized and analyzed according to their contributions to the development of digital art. While addressing various fields of digital art, a methodological approach is adopted by examining the thematic distribution and techniques of selected artists. In video art, artists such as Nam June Paik, Bill Viola, and Kutluğ Ataman are highlighted, whereas artificial intelligence art features the works of Refik Anadol. Additionally, augmented reality (AR) art is represented by Pablo Valbuena. These artists reinterpret and transform the spaces we inhabit, reflecting the transition from virtual environments to physical spaces. The desire to escape the stagnation of our lives and imbue them with new meanings continually drives us to reinterpret and advance art. This study explores the relationship between humans and technology, emphasizing its impact on digital art. It comprehensively presents the trajectory of digital art worldwide — the stages it has undergone and the influences it has absorbed. Moreover, it investigates the public exhibitions of digital art, its integration into architectural structures, and its societal impacts. The research also delves into how technology evolves art, examining the interaction between the two and their parallel development. Particular attention is given to Pablo Valbuena’s captivating installation works, which extend beyond physical spaces into public domains. Valbuena merges the digital and physical realms, using site-specific installations such as Quadratura, Time Tiles, Modulation, and Aura, focusing on technical aspects and design concepts. Consequently, this study analyzes the dynamic methods of movement within his digital installations, his constructive approach to integrating digital forms into spaces, and the synchronicity with nature emphasized in works like Gyrotope and Wave.
