Translation, since the emergence of language as a means of communication among humans, has remained a significant phenomenon, continuing its effectiveness from ancient times to the present day. Translation serves as a window to the outside world and as a bridge between cultures. The rapid advancement of technology in our era, the swift communication facilitated by the internet, commercial and economic agreements between different countries, and the necessity for important literary works to reach readers as soon as they are published have made translation indispensable for global communication. However, while computer-assisted translations through technology have been beneficial in facilitating communication, they are not sufficient in accurately reflecting the content, style, artistry, and cultural elements of a literary work originating from a specific place. Therefore, it is undoubtedly the responsibility of the translator to ensure that these literary works reach the readers in the best possible manner. In our study, the process of translating literary works will be examined through the lens of translation equivalence and translation issues. The focus of our study will be on translation issues, evaluated through Orhan Pamuk's "My Name is Red." By comparing sentences from the source text, which is Orhan Pamuk's "My Name is Red," with sentences from two different Russian translations, we will identify the translation problems that arise and explore the approaches taken by translators to address these issues. Analyzing two different translation texts allows us to understand the paths taken by two different translators in rendering the same text, the differences between them, and the solutions they propose during the transfer process. Through this analysis, we aim to elucidate the challenges encountered in literary translation and the problems arising during cultural transfer.
