Textiles have taken their place in the routine of life at a level that will meet the basic needs of humanity in the process from ancient times to the present. Textiles, which emerged in line with needs such as covering and protection from the cold, have diversified with the development of humanity and have been produced in different forms and for different usage purposes. Textiles consisting of organic components are exposed to many deteriorations due to production and use when suitable environmental conditions cannot be provided. In this study, suitable environmental conditions such as exhibition and storage for historical textiles are presented within the scope of preventive conservation. It is known that many of the deteriorations caused by environmental conditions occur together with the display and storage environment and conditions. For this purpose, studies related to the subject in the field of textile protection were examined by descriptive scanning method. The factors that are important in the deterioration of historical textiles are relative humidity, light, heat and dust and gases in the air. These conditions vary depending on whether the textile raw material is animal or plant fiber. It is possible to prevent the factors that cause deterioration with preventive conservation when displaying and storing textiles.
