1665053079 AN EXAMINATION OF THE WORKS PERFORMED AT HOME AND ABROAD ON PIANO DUETS AND PIANO ENSEMBLE

Duet and ensemble works, which enable more than one person to perform together on the piano, offer students and pianists opportunities related to togetherness that they cannot obtain in solo works. These are the first contributions that come to mind, such as listening, sharing a keyboard, creating a common language, working together, and getting acquainted with a different repertoire. It is seen that students who have previously progressed in solo piano encounter a different repertoire when they study four-hand pieces, develop their association skills, and enjoy piano study more. Today, it is noteworthy that the piano, which is the basic instrument in music education, has become widespread in homes and educational centers with the digital pianos making this instrument accessible, and music educators and researchers are increasingly working on piano duets and piano ensembles. The increase in the number of studies conducted on this subject has led to the need for regular presentation of information about their contents by examining and classifying them. For this purpose, research published abroad and domestically on the subject of duets, duos, four hands, piano ensembles was examined. The research was conducted using the document review method, and the studies examined were evaluated in terms of their contributions to piano education, whether they included applications, the methods used in the research, their contributions to the literature, and the results achieved. According to the data obtained in the research, it has been seen that the number of studies originating from abroad is much higher than those conducted in our country and is based on very ancient dates; it has been reported that the studies conducted in our country are based on much more recent dates and consist of a small number. In addition, it has been seen that the studies conducted in our country are aimed at beginner-level piano education. In addition to all these, it has been learned that a very large part of the studies performed, whether from abroad or domestically, are carried out for the purpose of describing the benefits of duet and ensemble studies for piano October.
