As a legacy of the Bauhaus School/Echo, the Basic Art Education course is taught as a first-year course in many fine arts faculties of our country. As a general purpose, within the scope of the course, the principles and rules of art, grammar, language, elements of plastic arts such as point, line, stain, color, texture are tried to be taught through practical and theoretical studies within the framework of application and evaluation principles. This course, unlike the classical, master-apprentice workshop training, is the result of educational models that aim to train designers and artists who will make the environment aesthetically pleasing, as an alternative to the increasingly visual/physical pollution of nature by technology and industrial products. Although the curricula of the schools differ, mostly within the scope of this course, the subject of dot is included in the framework of teaching the principles of light-medium-dark tone in art.Within the scope of the article, the techniques and methods of the works produced on the subject of dot work in the Basic Art Education course of Mersin University Fine Arts Faculty were discussed. The point subject is considered as the smallest element of the plastic arts, and the possibilities of forming the composition and taking shape are examined in terms of the diversity of techniques and methods. The subject, which is very effective in teaching the language of plastic arts, has been tried to be examined through art history and works produced in today's art.
