1643015706 FOLK MUSIC INSTRUMENT ENSEMBLES IN HALKEVLERI

Halkevleri (Turkish: Halkevleri, literal translation: People's Houses, also translatable as Community Centres), which served as a complementary factor for the education of the people as a part of national ideals after the proclamation of the Republic, is a cultural institution that carried out works between 1932-1951. Halkevleri, which performed under 9 main branches "with the aim of raising a modern and conscious society", also carried out studies on the development and recording of national music and on Turkish folk music instruments within the branch of fine arts. The folk music and the national saz ensembles have been observed to be among the works carried out under the leadership of the Halkevleri fine arts branch. This study aimed to examine works of the folk instruments ensemble carried out under the institutional umbrella of Halkevleri and to create a resource by compiling the work examples that could be found. The data obtained in the research were evaluated within the scope of qualitative research methods, and archives, source scanning and documentary data for the period were used. In the light of the collected data, the studies on the performance of folk instruments ensemble carried out in the Halkevleri, which were the leading institutions in education, culture and art during that period, were examined and interpreted.
