1533658038 VISUAL SEARCHING IN APPAREL FASHION AND IMAGINATIVE CONTRIBUTIONS OF 20TH CENTURY WESTERN ART

20th century Western art is seen that it is composed of various orientations that repeat themselves
and which are evaluated as per specific intellectual fundamentals. Each orientation
has produced visual or semantic statements containing a message or rebel against a formation
coming before itself and to traditional approaches within conditions of that time.
Apparel Fashion in the same period has been one of the areas where there was need for
new visual searches with “fast consumption” system which was determinant of production
methods. In this respect it is seen that various orientations in 20nd century Western art made
contribution to Apparel Fashion with imaginative varieties and visuality created by this. In
the study it is aimed to attract attention to imaginative transfers from 20nd century Western
art to Apparel Fashion after modernization by evaluating the relationship between art and
trade-commodity. Since the subject necessitates for Apparel Fashion to be evaluated as an
industrial area, it has been evaluated accordingly and dynamics belonging to the nature of
apparel itself have also been investigated at the same time. Furthermore, in order to make
the contributions made by imageries belonging to various art movements to apparel fashion
become more understandable, sample designs created in different years have been compared
with the images.
