1520545731 EVALUATION OF THE SCALES FOR VIOLONCELLO FROM PAST TO NOW

In Music, the basic concern of artists is to gain appreciation of the audience by presenting a competence with his
technic and interpretation. Main principles under a strong technic are right-hand and left-hand mastery. In the basic characteristics of development of right-hand and left-hand usage, there lie scales doubtless. Scales, arpeggios,
double notes (triplet, sextet, and octave) are rich and important intonations and technical works for string instrument
artists. It helps students to discover the board of violoncello and left-hand control difficulties. Scales are
handled with two basic principles; the first one is various string exercises, strengthening fingers, position changes
etc., and the second one is the acknowledgement of tones, tonality, achievement of a qualified and grateful sound and a clear intonation. The clear intonation is a very important issue that should be paid attention during the
violoncello education. Playing scales with violoncello lasts very long time. The first published samples were seen
in 1765. Acknowledging the evaluation of the scales as technically and also considering for playing, will provide
us to analyze both the technical improvement of violoncello and playing technics of works played at those times.
Thus, the aim of this study is firstly to look at the historical development of scales in order to have a good grasp of scale works and to investigate its journey from past to now.
