1511485577 THE PLACE OF SIGN IN THE SOCIAL PLANE: SOCIAL SEMIOTICS

Human, as a course its nature, is a social entity. The most basic indicator of this is the presence of language. If there is language, there is more than one person, the presence of more than one person proves social structure and hence presence of communication. Interpersonal communication uses another plane that benefits from the phenomenal nature of the world: signs plane. The signs initially found their place in linguistics. In the course of the temporal development of semiotics, the presence of signs in the social plane, even thought ignored sometimes, started to be defined. The aim of this study; examining of the transformation process of sign into the working object of social semiotics and introducing the literature of social semiotics. In this context, firstly the formation of semiotics and then the relations between structuralism and post structuralism will be explained. Finally, the formation of social semiotics and its basic arguments will be mentioned. Thus, the difference between the sign of social semiotics as a working object and the sign of semiotics will be revealed.
