Myths are the ways people in ancient societies perceived the world and the main constituents of culture. Mythology creates a subject area by making use of both the beliefs and the stories told in ancient times and the stories which have been created by the experiences of societies so far. The entities in this area generally create a cult which can be good or bad. Letavitsa can be seen mostly in the form of a devilish spirit in Slavic Mythology and in the sources of Russia, Ukraine and the other Slavic countries; apart from that, Letavitsa is described as a witch, a brutal woman or rarely as a divinity. Letavitsa has a role in which Letavitsa sometimes attracts and tricks women by posing as a man or sometimes attracts and tricks men by posing as a woman but in both situations, has a harmful effect on human beings. In this study, it has been emphasized how Letavitsa is accepted by different countries and cultures and what kind of an image Letavitsa creates in Russian literature notably in poetry, novels and legends by first maknig a description of Letavitsa having a place as one of the bad spirits in Slavic Mythology.
