In the journey of reaching beauty, which has possibly been a basic motivation of art, there has been attempts to define beauty, In this respect, several questions have been addressed such as What is beauty? Are there any criteria for generalizing the concept of beauty? Is beauty a feature that beings bear? Or, is it us to find them beautiful? Meaning, importance and value have been some of the basic issues in the philosophy of art. Accordingly, there has been some explanations made from various philosophical views. In this paper, the issues of meaning, importance and value in art, from general definitions toward the art of music, are presented from formalist, referentialist and expressionist views. The purpose of this paper is to present some phiolophical views with regard to the issues of meaning, importance and value in the art of music.
