In the present study, Jean Fautrier who was an important figure of Tachisme and Informal Art and the “impasto” technique were addressed. Fautrier can be accepted as the pioneer of the “impasto” technique which is frequently used in paintings but is not being articulated even in our day. Having created a relief impact, this technique mirrored the moods of the artists in the melancholic era when the Second World War took place. Blending the experiences of the artists, this technique has a significant place in the liberalisation of the further techniques.
