1393193629 ORIENTALISM ON THE MATISS'S ART

In the 20 th. century, after the colonial empires had been set up and the Ottamans had turned their face to the west, the eastern art inspired the European artists. Matiss were two of the modern artists of that period. They found their way out of orientalism, used this in their own structural logical formation so it is important to examine the paintings which were painted by them during their North African journey. Matiss met with Islamic and Eastern art before his North African journey. The one which he did to Algeria and Morocco was not only an approach in the content, but it also caused some changes in the shape, composition and colour structure of his works. Matiss's only target all his life long was to show the density of his life by giving a quick appearance to his work. But this appearance and his belief, in which the strength of his structure must be reflected in his every canvas, was the result of a tiring and professional work and unlimited corrections in his paintings.
