1694023223 GIUSEPPE VERDI'S DIRECTORIAL THOUGHTS ON THE OPERA MACBETH

In this study. A staging idea on the opera composed by G. Verdi, one of the 19th century opera composers, inspired by W. Shakespeare’s tragedy named “Macbeth” was examined. The original directional idea, devised by the researcher, is put forward by taking into account the historical processe in which the composer lived. The idea of staging, which emerged as a result of the dramaturgy studies, is tried to be conveyed by the use of symbolic elements. W. Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, which inspired the composition of the piece, is based on supernatural beings and the prophecies they fulfill.
This study is based on the idea of a directorship, which i,s constructed with supernatural powers and the reflection of Macbeth’s subconcious. For this reason, the use of decor and costumes was designed based on this idea. While the witches, who dominate the work in general, continue their existance on the stages as a reflection of the desires that Macbeth is afraid to realize, it focuses on Lady Macbeth, who is a triggering force in the realization of these desires. The plot, the characters, the costume and the uyse of symbolic elements are included in the fictionalized directional work. The study includes the idea of the director, the use of symbolic elements and the narration of the plot with the scene image.
