The practices and thoughts of Bekir Sıdkı Sezgin, one of the most important vocal performers in the field of Classical Turkish Music, have an important place in this field. There are biography and performance analysis studies about him. Unlike these, the aim of this study is to make sense of Bekir Sıdkı Sezgin’s ideas about the phenomenon and to make conceptual inferences. For this reason, the method of the research was determined as content analysis. Content analysis was carried out on the audio recording of a lecture by Bekir Sıdkı Sezgin. The audio recording was turned into a text, and unwritten meanings from a written text were tried to be determined. The codes and themes determined as a result of the content analysis were interpreted. As a result of the research, Bekir Sıdkı Sezgin’s ideas about the performance phenomenon are grouped under four themes: “meşk/tradition/performance relationship”, “free points in performing”, individual competence/performance” and “musicality”. Trying to explain Bekir Sıdkı Sezgin’s general approach in his lectures on performance within the cause-effect relationship has brought some new questions about performance, and it is suggested to conduct new researches focusing on these questions.
