Data is one of the most valuable concepts of the modern age. It is a well-known fact that it is mandatory to produce and use data, particularly personal data and those on a global scale with a view to maintaining the modern life. Accordingly, it is also significant that such data should be easy to understand and fast for everyone as there is an extensive flow of information nowadays. Therefore, it is a necessity to train designers, who are capable of analytical thinking, analyzing, building hierarchical structures and using graphics and visuals effectively. The objective of the research is to illustrate the place of data visualization and infographic disciplines in design education, which is getting more important as the design practices change. We utilized qualitative and quantitative research methods to analyze the lectures of such disciplines in line with the opinions of the academicians, designers and students. We initially have implemented an expectation scale to the students at the beginning of the semester and then asked the opinions of all working groups via semi-structured interview method. Then, we have used the content analysis to analyze the qualitative data and we comparatively examine them with expectation scale, when required. In conclusion, we have concluded that including infographics and data visualization in the design education helps students analyze and fictionalize the extensive cluster of information and transfer it in an aesthetical and effective manner and produce more creative visual solutions, learn proper graphics and diagrams, think about the design beyond the data by approaching design in an interdisciplinary manner, and acquire problem-solving ability by developing intellectually and to reflect their learnings to their future projects.
