1462537231 THE USE OF FOLK TUNES ADAPTED FOR VIOLIN EDUCATION

This research aims to determinetheeffect of usingthemusicalelements of Turkish Cypriot Folk Tunes which are adapted to violin upon violin students’ abilities to play violin. “Sirto” and “Zeybek” are them elodies which adopted to violin among Turkish Cypriot melodie swhich are play edand have typical dance patterns. The study conducted in experimental “one group- pretest- final test” pattern with the 12 students in the Eastern Mediterranean University. Inpreliminary observation, the group played the unadapted (original) versionand in final observation they play edadapted version. Observation used as information gathering method in this research. All data collect edandanalysed in both quantitative and qualitative basis. As a result, the ests demonstrate that Folk Tunes which adapted to violin affected the students’ ability to play in both technical and musical ways positively. We observed a significant increase and positive development for each behaviour.
