1582019632 A LOOK AT THE REAL AND AN APPROACH TO THE REALITY IN THE PAINTINGS OF AYDIN AYAN

Aydın Ayan starts his professional artistic life in the year 1972 in which he enrolled in Istanbul State Fine Arts Academy Department of Higher Painting where he chose art as a way of life. The Artist categorizes his artistic approaches under ten headlines. He summarizes his paintings which he categorized under ten headlines, into three main topics; 1- Is What Man Does To The Man, 2- Is What Man Does To The Beast, 3- Is What Man Does To The Nature. Undoubtedly, Ayan is an observer of life. In same occasions, his focal point is himself, in other occasions, his focal point is the people around him, the society in which he lies, a whole life or holistic nature together with its oppositions and contradictions. Nature has a special place, interpretation and importance in Ayan’s painting. Maybe that’s why, many artists, artistic writers, art historians and academicians made comments about the same issue and made references to the themes which Ayan handled in his painting. They stated that the paintings with the theme of “Snow” which is one of those, in itself is a subject for research. Even though the paintings of the Artist create the impression that they were made realistically, as if they were painted in front of the nature, most of them, however, are fictional images which do not exists in real life and we can’t find their equivalents in nature, visualising the symbolic world of the artist. Thus, fictional realities created by this method, mysteriously contributes to the creation of a “magical” and “mystical” world. As a result, Ayan’s painting has merged together with a “Mystical” and “Magical” Reality which consists of various perceptions and interpretations, depending on the audience and by visualising sequences from places, figures, nature and life in which every can find something for themselves, with a plain language, and make the audience travel around multidimensional reality or fiction, truth or post-truth, real or magic, real or mystical.
