1491829781 CONTEMPORARY PAINTING WITH TRADITIONAL TILE

The use of ceramics with painting goes back to prehistoric times. As the aesthetic sensibility of humanity and the visual alphabet evolve, the geometric stacks that started with dotts, lines and spots have reached an infinite variety of visual accumulation carried on the picture plane with the possibilities provided by a rich form language. In Islamic ceramics, it has been particularly seen that with the use of white angobe and clay, pictorial depictions seen in ceramics and tiles have enriched both at composition, subject and color. Combining the art of tile with various painting techniques can be an innovative way of maintaining this richness with free painting techniques. Thus the way of reinterpreting it with contemporary approaches is opened by the inner dynamics of the art of tile are preserved without losing its past. The meeting of various painting techniques, which have common points with underglaze painting techniques, will open up new forms of expression on the tile surfaces. As the new production suggestions, associated with the art of tile art will expand and multiply the vocabulary, also its expected an interest as a fertile field of production for the artists who will bring together the art of the past tile freely with experimental methods. In this study, the results obtained by collective use of underglaze painting technique, free paint applying techniques and tile tradition on tile and stone paste surfaces and on three dimensional forms will be shared.
