Vision and the visual perception is a basic premise in visual arts. It is important to have a conscious vision and visual perception. However, it is assumed that vision and visual perception is influenced by prejudices. Therefore, in this study, attention is drawn to the phenomenon that in visual arts, the vision has prejudices. In addition, it is aimed to gain to the art literature the “visual prejudices” expression as a concept which is hardly used.
The importance of research is to raise awareness and lead to new researches for solutions by drawing attention to the visual prejudices that reflected to the process of art education, art creation and the art contemplation.
As a result, it is asserted that as ideas and values are prejudiced, the visual perception is also influenced by visual prejudices so current sensation and perception data is perceived in a different way, influencing by the images which stored in memory. For this reason, the impact of the visual prejudices that reflecting on the process of artistic creation and artistic contemplation, should be discussed, examined and solutions should be researched. Whereby the awareness about reflection of visual prejudices on artistic creation and contemplation can be promoted and the negative effects can be reduced.
